The first natural gas full chain cryogenic treatment plant in China has been fully put into operation

On July 3rd, IT Home reported that according to CCTV News, China Petroleum (8.550, -0.05, -0.58%) learned that China’s first natural gas full chain multi condition cryogenic treatment plant has been fully put into operation in Sichuan, filling the gap in the complete technology chain of deep processing and high-value utilization of natural gas in China.
The report states that natural gas cryogenic treatment is a technology that uses low-temperature environments to separate, purify, and liquefy natural gas, with the characteristics of high separation efficiency and high resource utilization. The Yanting Processing Plant adopts China’s independently developed ultra-low temperature cryogenic technology to produce seven types of products including commercial natural gas, liquid ethane, and liquefied petroleum gas at once, with an annual processing capacity of 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
Deng Xiaofeng, the on-site technical manager of Yanting Natural Gas Processing Plant of PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company, introduced that our independently developed complete set of process technology flow and core algorithms have enabled our cooling utilization efficiency and comprehensive resource recovery rate to reach an industry-leading level of 95%.
IT Home learned from the report that for a long time, due to the influence of resource endowment, China’s dependence on external natural gas ancillary products has been relatively high. The project team of Yanting Processing Plant has independently developed technologies such as natural gas cryogenic distillation extraction, which have solved the problems of poor adaptability, high energy consumption, and low utilization rate of traditional processes.
Fan Rui, Deputy Director of the Gas Field Development Management Department of PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company, stated that the commissioning of this plant not only increases the domestic supply of one or several chemical products, but also verifies a technically independent and controllable path, taking an important step towards the large-scale development of similar unconventional gas fields and the construction of an independent natural gas cryogenic process system in China.
At present, the liquid ethane products produced by Yanting Processing Plant have been sent to East and Central China through dedicated transportation channels, and will be used as raw materials for high-end polyethylene and propylene production.
